Help Keep the Santa Maria Ship/Museum
Afloat!
The Santa Maria is a full-size
historical preservation of Christopher Columbus’ flagship used as a history museum. We are a
not-for-profit 501(C)(3) organization.
The Santa Maria was built in 1991 to commemorate the 500th year since Columbus’ first voyage.
Columbus Ohio is the largest city in the world named after the explorer. We serve between 16,000
and 18,000 visitors annually of all ages from around the world.
Our purpose is to educate and interpret the first voyage of Columbus and to serve as the flagship
for the city of Columbus Ohio. (The Santa Maria is represented on the city flag.
Our “Seeds of Change” Visitor/Education Center was opened in 2003 with additional displays
about how this voyage changed the world, both good and bad, forever. |
